Registration

Registration is limited to 2,500 runners. This event typically sells out, so don't wait.

Online registration closes June 10 at midnight. Late registration (if available) will be offered Friday and Saturday at packet pickup — but spots go fast.

Pricing

Prices increase throughout the year. The earlier you register, the more you save.

Virtual options are available for all distances at the same price.

Kids 5K

Want your kids to experience earning a shirt and medal? We offer a special kids category for the 5K.

Kids 4 and under running with a registered adult: $20 (includes shirt, bib, and medal)
Kids 4 and under (free entry): No charge — they're welcome to run with a parent, but will not receive a shirt, timed bib, or medal. Shirts available for $10 if we have them.

Strollers are permitted on the 5K course only. No wheels on the 10K, Half Marathon, or Full Marathon.

Registration Confirmation

Confirmation emails are sent when you register, but they often land in spam or get blocked. If you're not sure your registration went through, email sharon@charlevoixmarathon.com and we'll look into it.

Changes to Your Registration

You can update your registration — name, address, shirt size, race distance, etc. Send changes to sharon@charlevoixmarathon.com or call our registration coordinator Sharon at 248-921-2720. Fair warning: you may end up in an hour-long conversation about favorite recipes and grandchildren stories.

Deadline: Contact us by June 10 for changes. After that, changes can only be made at packet pickup (subject to availability in your requested distance).

Transfers

You may transfer your registration to another runner. All transfer requests must be submitted by June 1 or handled on-site at packet pickup.

Refund Policy

We have a no refund, no deferral policy, with one exception: active military personnel called to duty.

We do offer the option of transferring to another distance or another person.

Registration Insurance

We strongly recommend purchasing registration insurance when you register. It covers illness, accidents, family emergencies, canceled flights, and more. It cannot be added after registration — you must select it during checkout.

Registration insurance does not cover oversleeping or toddler-related scheduling conflicts. It does cover the things no one plans for. Spend the extra few dollars. It's worth it.

Weather Policy

The Charlevoix Marathon will be delayed or canceled if any of the following conditions exist:

Conditions for cancellation:

Tornado warning or watch
Thunderstorm warning
Severe rain or extreme wind
Other conditions presenting danger to participants (including extreme heat)

Delay: The start of any event may be delayed up to one hour if threatening conditions exist. If conditions persist beyond the delay period, the event will be canceled.

If a race is canceled during the event: Notification will be given to law enforcement and aid station personnel, who will inform runners as conditions allow. Once officially canceled, the race will not be restarted. Runners may choose to continue at their own risk, but results and times will not be recorded.

Authority to cancel: The National Weather Service, local law enforcement, and the Race Director have exclusive authority to cancel any event.

Force Majeure

When pandemics, weather, or other conditions present a danger to participants, we reserve the right to cancel or alter the race. Less severe conditions may result in a modified course or distance to promote safety.

These conditions are recognized as force majeure and will not result in refunds or deferrals. The production of a race this size requires substantial expense and planning well before race day. In the event of a forced cancellation, the financial impact on the race is no different than if it had been held as planned.

If a cancellation or alteration occurs, we will notify participants via text, email, and social media as quickly as possible. Please carry a communication device during the race in case officials need to relay information.
